My NASCAR Experience

Yes, this blog is mainly dedicated to Grand Prix history, but I did mention in the intro that I would make an occasional non-F1 post. Well, here's one.

I've been to several Sprint Cup events in Phoenix over the years, but this one was easily the most fun I've ever had there.

This time, I was allowed into the garage and pit area thanks to Robby Gordon and his sponsor, Speed Energy. Walked in front of Michael Waltrip. Didn't talk to him, but observing him he seems to be a chill kind of guy; someone that you could hang out with and have a nice conversation.

Got to Robby's trailer, got some free samples and hung out there for a few minutes; Robby appeared there and signed a few things including my pit pass. After that we got to walk across the pit wall and I posed with Robby in front of his car for a photo. Nice guy; he's quite the opposite of the reputation he's received over the years.

Race then began soon after, and after a couple others had a turn, me and my mom were allowed into the box above Robby's pit stall for a while. It was way cool getting to witness a pit stop from right above.

Did a few other things after that, but they aren't nearly as interesting as this was, so I'll just spare that.

Awesome experience overall. Would love to do it again sometime in the future, but that may never happen. But you never know...
